About 4x4buddy

Built in the Nordics, for the trail

4x4buddy started with a simple frustration: out on the trail, where it matters most, your phone's map gives up. Coverage drops, the screen goes blank, and the apps built for city streets have nothing to say about the terrain under your wheels.

So we built the companion we wanted on our own drives — one that keeps working when the signal doesn't.

Why the Nordics

We build from Sweden, surrounded by the kind of remote, weather-beaten country that makes the app necessary. The Nordics are a demanding place to drive off-road: long distances between towns, patchy mobile coverage, and terrain that changes fast. If the app holds up here, it holds up most places. That's our test bench, and it shapes every decision — offline-first maps, honest telemetry, and a focus on the basics done well.

How we build

4x4buddy is in active beta. We ship often and keep the scope honest: we'd rather do useful things reliably than promise a long list we can't stand behind. Today that means offline area packs, Destinations, Tribes, Convoy, on-map drawing, recorded tracks, GPX import/export, vehicle tilt, OBD telemetry, and cloud sync.

Because builds change quickly, we're upfront about it: plan remote driving with backup navigation. The app is a co-pilot, not a replacement for good preparation.
